Routine Life

Congratulations on a routine life well lived.
You did everything that was expected,
Now here is what you get.

You paid all your debt faithfully,
And as a reward?
We will lend you more.

Congratulations on a routine life well lived.
You could have been something amazing, kid.
But you didn’t let your dreams stand in your way,
As you pushed them aside for the routine everyday.

Now at the end, what do you have to show?
You can’t take it with you when you go.
So once more, congratulations on a routine life well lived.
Way to stick it to the man by becoming him, kid.

Whoever Has the Crypto Makes the Rules

Signaling Error

“Toppling statues and meme magic are the hallmarks of an ever-more “as if” world: symbols have power, and mental attention is power.” – Sarah Perry

“In Michael Spence‘s job-market signalling model, (potential) employees send a signal about their ability level to the employer by acquiring education credentials. The informational value of the credential comes from the fact that the employer believes the credential is positively correlated with having greater ability and difficult for low ability employees to obtain. Thus the credential enables the employer to reliably distinguish low ability workers from high ability workers.”

What happens when this system breaks down?

The right signals are being sent, but the outcomes are not requisite.

Results may vary.

“The error message need not mention the name of the function that signals the error; it is assumed that the debugger will make this information available.”

What to do when the assumptions fail and the debugger is broken?

Navigating the day to day moments of life can become a burden.

The projections are looking up.

All forecasts are rosy.

The gap between the perceived potential and the achieved reality is an abyss.

Learn something new the said, it will be fun they said.

Unfollow. Mute. Block. Hide. Delete.

The pain is much too real.

The Key To The Labyrinth Is To Overcome.

What more do you want from me? What more is it that I am to do?

The tragedy is.

We all posture for position as we position our posture.
We update our crypto portfolios like a coach updates a roster.
We do shadow work for shadow pay,
All hoping to hit it big someday.

We gorge on routine
As we are stuck in this repetition.
Always craving novelty,
And a brand new addition.

Stay tuned.
Stay interesting.
Stay Strange.

Giving to Grow

When I was younger, I never understood why companies spent so much money telling others about the good things they were doing.

The Recluse

The following is an original poem I wrote while mowing my lawn today.

The Recluse

I’ll turn it off,
Boy! That feels great!
Living without this constant drip of hate.

I’ll turn it off,
I’ll be fine.
Well, maybe I’ll scroll one more time…

I’ll turn it off,
This time I swear.
FOMO – I don’t care!

I’ll turn it off,
On this set date.
I’ll leave the rest up to fate.

I’ve turned it off,
And I am feeling fine.

I’ve turned it off,
And have so much more time.

I’ve turned it off,
And now I see people face to face.

I’ve turned it off,
Yet unless you join me, I will be a recluse in this place.

This poem obviously addresses social media which is the issue of our time.

I am publicly online, but sometimes wonder: “Why?”

It is said that Socrates once said that “The unexamined life is not worth living”.

I have often thought about this in my walk of faith and of trying to do what is right in the sight of God.

Sometimes the examination appears too great and I realize just how short I come.

The truth is I feel that social media is here to stay, but how we interact with it will change.

I think that right now as a society, we are in the honeymoon phase.

It is still new and the novelty is intoxicating.

But this will fade.

I think having a healthy balance between online and in-person matters and will make a huge difference as we move forward.

We can’t shun one and ridicule the other.

Relationships matter.

Stay tuned.
Stay interesting.
Stay Strange.

Working For The Weekend

We’ve all heard the song and could probably sing along if pressed enough.

At some points in my life it feels like I am doing nothing but working for the weekend.

And if you know me, I don’t really do all that much on the weekend either…

So mainly I am working to pay bills and to eat.

And have a safe place to sleep.

Sometimes it feels like all I do is try to survive.

When you get down to brass tacks, that’s all most of us do anyways.

Sure we dress it up and make it look fancy.

Some of the lucky ones of us get to do it more leisurely.

Others get the brunt of the work.

But at the end of the day, Everyone Poops.

We can strive for riches, or we can get by on scraps.

We can be happy, or sad, content or mad.

We can complain, moan, and cry.

We can wake up again and try.

What do we want to do today?

All the world’s a stage.

Stay tuned.
Stay interesting.
Stay Strange.

We’ve gone too far, there is no turning back

We wake up early for the daily compute

As we input data and execute

We wake up early to chase the dream

Our lives are mere data streams

Another search and information set

Another crypto ICO to place your bet

We wake up early because we can’t sleep

As we listen closely for the sound of the beep
